Pwnage Tool 4.2 with iBooks fix released

The iPhone Dev Team released the version 4.2 of the Pwnage Tool which jailbreaks the iPhone,iPod Touch,iPad and Apple TV.

With [Chronic Dev Team's] permission, we’ve incorporated their 4.2.1 “feedface” untether into today’s PwnageTool 4.2. This means iPhone unlockers can safely restore to a custom 4.2.1 pre-jailbroken IPSW and retain their current baseband and unlock.
PwnageTool also includes two very recent improvements to the 4.2.1 JB: iBooks was just fixed by @comex and @pushfix last night so that it works as intended on DRMed books, and the wifi problem on AppleTV 2G was fixed by @nitotv, @DHowett, and @saurik. Both of these fixes will also be available in upcoming Cydia package updates, so if you’re already jailbroken you can wait for those updates rather than restore and jailbreak again.

Theme it app for your jailbroken iOS device

Cydia introduces a new site and app called “Theme It”. This will make it a lot easier for owners of jailbroken iPhones to find the theme you are looking for. Those of you that use a jailbroken device, know how tedious it is to search through the thousands of themes looking for that certain one that catches your attention. Hopefully “Theme it” will reduce the clutter and better organize all the different themes into categories.

Theme it says they will only use the best of the best quality themes in their selections, they already have some of the best theme creators on board. I know I will find this handy and I’m sure anyone that wants to theme their jailbroken iPhone will find this app very very useful, I wish this came available a long time ago.

Cydia update for iOS 4.2 coming soon!

MuscleNerd a member of the iPhone Dev Team has announced that Saurik the creator of Cydia has been working on an update just in tome for the release and jailbreak of iOS 4.2.

The official changes have not been released yet, but we hope one change will be the reduction in the loading time. Leave a comment telling what changes you would like to see.

Limera1n Jailbreak released!!!

Geohot beat them to the punch and was the first iOS hacker to release the jailbreak for all 3rd gen and 4th gen devices,using Comex’s userland tools to make it untethered. There was previous talk that Geohot and Chronic Dev Team were going to consolidate their jailbreaks. But Geohot has released his first. I personally think I would trust the jailbreak from Geohot anyway. I have used his on my devices and they were flawless.

Limera1n iOS Jailbreak coming soon

Geohot is coming back into the jailbreak scene with limera1n. Just one day after the Chronic Dev Team and Comex announced the Greenpois0n jailbreak with the release date of 10/10/10.

We are currently working the “situation” out. Don’t worry, you’ll still get the jailbreak in the end, nothing to be concerned about.

iOS 4.1 jailbreak possibly coming soon

The iPhone Dev Team sent out a clear warning stating that if you upgrade the software to iOS 4.1 you risk losing your jailbreak and unlock forever. This is due to a modem baseband change. This was done to prevent jailbreaking on the iPhone, at least easy jailbreaking. This didnt stop some genius hackers figure out what they needed to jailbreak the new “upgraded” iOS 4.1.

Chronic Dev member Pod2g has highlighted a boot ROM exploit which could make it difficult for Apple to close. Pod2g has stated on his twitter account that we should see a demo soon.

This means in the near future we can have the benefits from the new iOS 4.1 update, like proximity sensor fix, bluetooth bug fix, etc. and still be able to have a jailbroken “open” iPhone. This will be a good thing…… I hope reall soon!!!

Apple to release a fix to Jailbreakme.com, PDF font exploit

Apple stated they will release a patch for the PDF font exploit that currently allows the Comex jailbreak.com jailbreak and malicious hackers to run code on an iPhone with the tap of a button. CNET reported a quote from an Apple spokeswoman:

“We’re aware of this reported issue, we have already developed a fix and it will be available to customers in an upcoming software update.”

Apple of course only provides updates in the form of complete re-writes, which means a waiting period until iOS 4.0.2 is released. Hopefully this one firmware update will be a fix for the proximity issues as well.

Yes with a jailbroken iPhone 4 and the download of the application My3G (3.99) you will be able to use the awesome FaceTime feature wherever you are, not restricted to Wi-Fi. Although the 3G version lacks a bit of quality compared to the Wi-Fi version but it still looks better than decent.

Ipad Gets Magic Mouse Support

Redmond Pie decided to try and get the Apple Magic Mouse to work with the iPad, the results looked pretty good, Of course your iPad needs to be jailbroken, you can find info about that here:

Not only did the Magic Mouse work, but so did almost all other bluetooth enabled mice. For those of you not familiar with BT stack Mouse, it is a free utility which was introduced earlier this year for jailbroken devices.

There seems to be little that a jailbreak can’t seem to make work with an Apple device.

Untethered Jailbreak

The Genius Geohot (George Hotz) has developed an untethered jailbreak, which works on all current tethered models (iPod Touch 2, 3Gs, and Ipod Touch 3) hopefully it will work with the iPad too. It is just as easy as blackra1n. He states not to ask for a release date…it won’t make it happen any sooner. I hope it will work with the current 3.1.3. There are a lot of dissapointed people that were forced to restore or had to get a new iPhone since the new software update. Take a look at the quick video below to get the idea of how easy it is.
