Apple dropped the prices on the iPad as of March 2, after the announcement of the iPad 2. Here are the new prices:

refurbished Apple iPad 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G for $659

No need to worry about the tag “refurbished” reports are saying that most of the iPads that are refurbished just needed a replacement glass. They are pretty much a brand new iPad for much cheaper price.

The main reason for this is because Apple made a Netflix app for Apple TV, while the Netflix web-based app for iPad is terrible and quite embarrasing to say the least.

How does Apple keep out-inventing the rest of the tech industry? Often, it’s by reinventing a product category that its competitors have given up on. In theory, the iPad is merely a follow-up to such resoundingly unpopular slate-style computers as Microsoft’s Tablet PC. But Apple is the first company that designed finger-friendly hardware and software from scratch rather than stuffing a PC into a keyboardless case. When it calls the results “magical” and “revolutionary,” it’s distorting reality only slightly. One analyst says the iPad is the fastest-selling nonphone gizmo in consumer-electronics history.

The iPad has had amazing success since its release. The iPad 2 should be even more interesting when it comes out, with the duel cameras and FaceTime capabilities.

SJ: Other tables appear to be just a handful of credible entrants. Almost all use 7″ screens compared to iPad 10″. Would offer 70% of benefits. But only 45% as large because of diagonal measure. 7″ screens a bit smaller than bottom half of iPad screen. Not big enough to make great tablet apps.

SJ: Apple has done extensive testing, really understand this stuff. Limits to how close you can place elements for usability. Why 10″ is minimum size for great tablet apps.

SJ: Every tablet user is also smartphone user. No tablet can fit in your pocket. Giving up precious diplay area to fit tablets in pockets isn’t the way to go.

SJ: Many use Android software, even Google, tells manufacturers not to use Froyo. What does it mean when your software supplier says not to use the software and you ignore it?

SJ: iPad now has more than 35,000 apps. New tablets will have 0.

SJ: Competitors have a tough time coming close to iPad pricing even with smaller screen. Apple creates own chip, battery chemistry, enclosure, everything. Incredible product, incredible price. Competitors will likely offer less for more.

SJ: New crop of tablets will likely be DOA. Too small. Will increase size next year, abandon customers and developers who went 7-inch.

SJ: Reason they wouldn’t make 7-inch tablet isn’t because of price point, it’s because they think it’s too small to express the right software. Apple is a software-first company. Developers aren’t going to deal really well with different screen sizes, when they can’t put enough elements on screen to build the apps they want to build. 7-inches isn’t about cost, it’s about value when you factor in software.

SJ: Can’t assume software will take care of itself. Can’t just put in less memory, slower processor, assume software will come alive. It won’t.

The iPad Wi-Fi + Mi-Fi on Verizon will be $630,$730 and $830.

This is the beginning of the truth to the Verizon iPhone coming at the beginning of the year.

While the PlayBook’s announced specs look really impressive, next to the iPad 2 that is coming in 2011 with dual cameras, FaceTime, faster Apple A(?) processors likely based on Cortex A9, and other hardware improvements I don’t think Apple has to worry. Likewise, in March 2011 Apple will almost certainly show off iOS 5, with who knows what new features.

So it’s great to have more competition in the tablet space, and RIM looks like they have a really interesting device in the PlayBook, but 2011 and we’ll probably also see a webOS tablet and Android tablets running Gingerbread if not Honeycomb, and that’s when things get really interesting for iPad, and really great for consumers.

However, television sales fell despite the rollout of new 3D models, with both average prices and total volumes notching “low-double digit” declines compared with last year. Mr. Dunn also said internal estimates showed that the iPad had cannibalized sales from laptop PCs by as much as 50%.

“It’s a very different environment now,” said Stephen Baker, the chief electronics analyst for market researcher NPD Group Inc. “The real cool stuff now will be the tablets, e-readers and probably the higher-end digital cameras.”

Several reports have indicated that the iPad is taking over the portable media market. Best Buy announced they will be expanding in-store iPad sales to its entire network of nearly 1,100 U.S. stores and also increasing the stock of variety iPad accessories.

It is not hard to see, Apple is the most sought after product. During the past few years, Apple released some amazing products. The Apple iPhone is the most popular phone on the market and the iPad is making its way to the top as well. The iPod as we all know is the most popular music player in the world.

A Hyatt employee had this to say:

“I don’t carry a calculator. I used to subscribe to all the journals: the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times. That’s all disappeared. It’s all on iPad.”

Hyatt employees are already using them for a better customer service practice. Check-in reps are given iPads for an easier way of looking up reservations and checking in guests.

Steve Jobs announced at Apple special music event that iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod touch will be coming next week, and iOS 4.2 for the iPad will be coming in November.

iOS 4.1 includes bug fixes for the proximity sensor, Bluetooth, and iPhone 3G performance. It also adds HDR photos, HD YouTube uploads,TV rentals and Game Center.

iOS 4.2 includes all that is with iOS 4.1 along with wireless printing and AirPlay, which replaces airtunes and adds streaming video and pictures

AutoDesk has announced that they will be bringing AutoCAD to iPhone and iPad.

The Mac version will cost $4,000, the same as the PC version, and will be releasing in October. AutoDesk will soon introduce a free mobile version of the software that will run on the iPad, iPhone and the iPod Touch. With the mobile version of AutoCAD an engineer can bring drawings to a job site on an iPad instead of a big roll of paper. The mobile version will be able to read any AutoCAD file whether it was created on a Mac or PC.
