Here is a quick run down on how to jailbreak the iPhone 3.1.3 with the newly released “spirit”. First off, if your new to the whole iPhone hacking thing and you are having doubts I advise you to stay away. But if you can’t stand the restricted version of such a powerful device, and want a beast of a smartphone….here you go. Of all the jailbreaks released to date, this is one of the easiest, and I’m talking blackra1n easy.
1) Jump on over to the Spirit Jailbreak site and download the software that corresponds to your OS on your computer. This WILL work with any version of iTunes up to the 9.1.1 version.
2) Next I would advise you to back up your iPhone, just incase something happens and you need to do a restore. It’s not likely anything will go wrong but you never know.
3) Quit iTunes and launch Spirit, just click the button and wait! After about 60 seconds you will see a status bar complete and you should be fully jailbroken. The way to tell is, you will see the app Cydia on one of your homepages. This is what the icon will look like.

For those new to the iPhone scene that decided to jailbreak, here are a few things you will want to download from Cydia to enhance your user experience:
- Winterboard (needed for applying themes)
- Themes!
- Rock App (an alternative to Cydia)
- SBSettings (allows a quick swipe to view all the essential settings of the phone)
