Verizon made the announcement about their details on CES 2011. It will be a “sneak peak of Android based 4G LTE” devices, this has in return generated speculation that Verizon will NOT be talking about a Verizon iPhone at all during the 2011 CES show.
Verizon’s afternoon news conference has been known as an Android event. January 6th is the scheduled keynote speech with the Verizon CEO, this could be the possible announcement.
The timing of the CES corresponds to growing rumors that a Verizon iPhone will launch in early 2011. These rumors have been spreading for years now, but the reports have been growing louder and more frequent. I personally think the Verizon iPhone will be released in 2011, when is the question. That all depends on Mr Jobs, Apple typically holds its press event in January/February. Last year, Apple introduced the iPad in January so a Verizon iPhone announcement might make more sense alongside the iPad 2 release date which is also rumored to support Verizon’s CDMA network.
