In iPhone news, DigiTimes reports, according to their sources there is a back up iPhone 4G much like the 3GS but with the upgrades. The reason for this is, in case of a major production disruption for the new iPhone 4G, which would be caused by the new design, display and camera. Gizmodo reports they have heard from a source at AT&T that the iPhone 4G will be launched in Mid-June.
Very few people within Apple even knew about the iPhone 4Gj until it was leaked into the press and blogs. The leaked prototype had a pre-production number N90, and rumor is tht Apple has another device with pre-production number N91. This is apparently the back up iPhone for Apple incase something goes wrong with the new device.
The leaked iPhone 4G had a tag that said “N90,” which is the internal development codename for the iPhone 4G, and very few people outside the company knew about it prior to the leak.
On a side note, Apple initiated the iPhone 4G project at the end of 2008. According to our sources, Apple actually has another product codenamed N91 for the project, which offers less change from previous iPhones compared with the N90. It’s a parallel product to back up the N90 in case there are major delays due to significant modifications in casing, display resolution, digital camera support and so forth.
Another rumor is that Apple could have a third device, recently in an iPhone SDK discovery, an internal model number of N89 was found. The current 3GS has a number of N88. Could this by the Verizon iPhone?
Apple also chose not to use OLED screens in the iPhone 4G due to performance issues and high costs.
Rumors, Rumors………….The truth is coming in a few days at WWDC 2010!!
