iPhone 5 being released in September/October time frame

Posted by | February 20, 2012 .

The Japanese blog, Macotakara has reported that they had received information from a “reliable” source that Apple is targeting another September or October release. This is going to be the new iPhone release cycle to be kept for years to come, say goodbye to the Summer releases.

A representative from a supplier that provides parts for the iPhone claims that Apple is on an ordering plan pointing to a September launch goal, that is unless something goes wrong in the meantime.

It is unknown if the new iPhone will be called the iPhone 5 or iPhone 6, but if it follows the pattern of previous releases it will be called the iPhone 6. The iPhone 4 was the 4th released model and the iPhone 4S was the 5th released model, so this would make the 2012 iPhone the 6th released model, therefore calling it the iPhone 6 would make a lot of sense.

It is also rumored from another source that Apple is targeting an October launch for an LTE technology iPhone. That same source also accurately reported the March 7th release date of the iPad 3. This makes perfect sense due to the fact that the WWDC ( Worldwide Developers Conference ) is going to be held June 11-15. A release of an iPhone 5 in the Summer would result in a very short overall lifespan of the iPhone 4S.
