Today is the day the new iOS 4 for iPhone or iPod touch is released. Before you just race to download it to your device here are a few things you need to make sure to do first.

1) Check device compatibility

The original iPhone and original iPod touch are not compatible with the new upgrade
The 3G and iPod touch G2 will miss out on a few of the options due to the slower processor

2) If your device is Jailbroken (restore)

just to be safe, restore to the 3.1.3 version software then upgrade to the i OS 4
there will not be a jailbreak for a while so if you cant live with Apples restrictions, DO NOT upgrade to this software

3) Download the new version of iTunes (iTunes 9.2)

You need this version in order to activate iOS 4, Apple released it last week for a reason, so use it for a flawless experience

4) Upgrade your Apps

5) Back up your device first

It may take a while for this step, but just be patient and wait. You don’t want to lose any important info
