Apple is releasing iOS 4.2 in mid November, it brings a volume slider widget to the iPhone and iPod Touch. The iPhone and iPod Touch has a no landscape view for homescreen so the volume slider isn’t next to the other widgets like it is on the iPad, there is also no brightness slider. This is what the new update will offer:

*Double tap to open the multitasking fast app switcher dock

*Swipe left again to move to the volume slider widgets
