There have been reports that the iPhone 4 loses signal strength when the bottom left corner of the phone is held. A MacRumors forum user emailed Steve Jobs asking him what was going to be done about the signal dropping issue and Steve Jobs replied “Non issue, just avoid holding it in that way” Later Mr Jobs responded with a little more of an explanation,
“Gripping any phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases.”
There have been reports that having a case on your iPhone 4 will eliminate the signal dropping problem. I’m sure most of us will put this device in some form of case, so many of you will never see this issue. But if you are experiencing the signal dropping when you are holding it on the left corner, you may want to put a case on it and fix the problem.
