Apple has just announced that their iTunes App Store for the iPhone and iPod touch has passed the 2 billion downloads.
Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, says:
The rate of App Store downloads continues to accelerate with users downloading a staggering two billion apps in just over a year, including more than half a billion apps this quarter alone.

The App Store has reinvented what you can do with a mobile handheld device, and our users are clearly loving it.
Other numbers include more than 85,000 apps now available from 125,000 registered developers, available in 77 countries around the world, for 50 million iPhones and iPod touches sold to date.
