The new iPhone firmware is causing more problems for some users. Complaints are popping up on Apple’s discussions forums about issues with wildly fluctuating battery life and iTunes playlists. The battery issue is pretty serious. Users have reported their battery life swinging from 25 to 7 to 10 percent, then jumping back to 24. Some even say their iPhone has lost hours of battery life, with the device running unusually hot.
A less serious issue some have found is that some playlists aren’t syncing correctly with iTunes and some iPod touches running 3.1.3. The issue looks to be limited to smart playlists with multiple criteria. One temporary fix might be to reduce all smartlists to only have one criteria each.
