PEOPLE magazine for the Apple iPad is now available. The app is a free download, but each issue is $3.99 and can be downloaded as an in app purchase. The good news is, if you are a PEOPLE magazine print version subscriber, you get the digital version for free.

The iPad version of PEOPLE magazine offers a little more content than the print version:

* Double the number of Star Tracks pics, plus bonus, iPad-only, photo galleries throughout the issue

* Instant breaking news updates on our top stories throughout the entire week

PEOPLE magazine does not offer an iPad only subscription of the magazine. You must purchase the actual printed version of the magazine in order to avoid paying the newsstand price of $3.99 per issue. I think this is a bad move on the magazines part, I have no interest in purchasing the printed version of the magazine, but I might be interested in having a copy of the magazine already downloaded on my iPad to glance at on my down time.
