Outside – Great weather app for iPhone

If you are a weather nerd, and watch The Weather Channel more that the news channel you will be interested in this iPhone weather app.

Outside combines an engaging interface with well presented and timely information. This application is a very focused app that can either detect your location using location services or you can manually enter it in the application preferences.

Once your location has been found, you will be looking out of a virtual window that indicated the current temperature and conditions. When you drag the screen down you get a more detailed analysis of UV index, humidity, cloud cover, and wind. Drag the screen to the left to reveal individual screens of the five day forcast. The date you are viewing is always at the top left hand corner of the screen.

One plus about this app is the display. Most weather apps in the app store that i’ve tried, try to cram as much information on the screen as possible making it hard to read and all ran together. Outside presents you with the information most people are interested in, temperature and conditions. If you want a more detailed view, you can move around the interface and get that as well. They put a lot of thought in the interface, for example if it’s snowing outside, you will see gentle flakes floating around the screen.

Another great selling point on this app is the notification system. You can configure the settings so that you will receive notifications if its about to rain in your area, if the temp either goes above or below the threshold you set.

Outside is my new weather app of choice on my iPhone and you should give it a try as well. It has a clean interface awesome animations and a great notification system. Download it now in the App store for $2.99
