Analysts are now reporting that they believe the iPhone 4S will be the only iPhone announced and released this year. Their speculation comes from someone in one of the assembly lines saying that the iPhone with the larger screen and thinner, rounder body (the iPhone 5) is seeing continued design and production delays possibly delaying the release of that model until 2012. The iPhone 4S could be produced by Apple just to keep iPhone sales up and stocks high while they work out the issues with the iPhone 5. The iPhone 4S is rumored to be the exact same design as the iPhone 4 with the differences being only an 8MP camera and an A5 processor.

Today Brian Blair from Wedge Partners told BGR this:

Despite numerous rumors to the contrary, Apple will only launch one iPhone model this fall and it will be a modest upgrade that closely resembles the current iPhone 4. In a note to investors on Wednesday, Wedge Partners analyst Brian Blair says that Apple will hold a special event between September 28th and October 5th to unveil several new devices. Only one of those devices will be an iPhone, however, and Blair says it will be an incremental update as opposed to the redesigned iPhone 5 that has been rumored on multiple occasions.

Blair also went on to say the low cost device everyone is talking about will actually be a 3G iPod touch which will have plans like an iPad and be able to make calls over VoIP

As reported a few weeks ago Terry Gou, Foxconn’s chairman, recently said it was very hard to make Apple products but more than likely he was referring to the fact that Foxconn was having a hard time making it.

Whatever the fact is, we will know very soon and if the iPhone 4S is the only phone Apple launches this year, in my opinion there will be a lot of disappointed iPhone addicts out there.
